Kurikulum 2013 is a program for students to experience wide learning opportunities in attitudes, knowledge and skills to develop their abilities. Kurikulum 2013 highlights two types of competencies: Core Competencies and Basic Competencies. Core Competencies are the main competencies used throughout the curriculum documents. They are: spiritual attitudes, social attitudes, knowledge, and skills (Nuh, 2013). The text of the Core Competencies develops through all levels. Basic Competencies are different and developed at each level and between subjects. Basic Competencies include all knowledge and skills that must be taught in each subject at each level.

Teaching Plan

 

The teaching plan I used is based from the weekly lesson plan given to me by my cooperating teacher. The lesson plan starts with determining its objectives. The objectives has to develop the core and the basic competencies grounded to the curriculum that they are following.

In doing it, I start the lesson in class by reviewing the previous lesson and a warm up through asking  questions that connects to the life experiences of the pupils/activity.Second is the main activity, wherein I as a teacher would let the class to do a meaningful activity to highlight the lesson. Third is the generalization wherein I will ask questions to students if there are things that they wished to clarify and as a class, we summarize the lesson. Fourth is the answering of a worksheet from certain pages of their workbooks this is because when I do my observation to teachers, they most likely let the pupils answer the questions both from textbook and workbook for drills, practice and assessment.Thus, I do the same way.

Since, the curriculum develop basic and core competencies- 
spiritual attitudes, social attitudes, knowledge, and skills, in my lesson objectives, I see to it that it has integrated and measured both the concept of "character and competence" so that along with the necessary skills that they have, is the good character of a person.
