Opportunity comes very rare and it happens in an unexpected way.  Being one of the delegates to represent the University of the Immaculate Conception in the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange Program of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is a chance that is not given to everyone. My heart and mind are filled with mixed emotions and thoughts. What awaits me here in abroad? What challenges will I surpassed? How much tears will I shed? How many fears will I overcome? A lot of questions are lingering in my head but there is one thing that I am sure of, with God’s help and personal determination, I can keep going on.

The Beginning of Everything

Agust 08, 2018, this date marks the beginning of our journey as a pre service student teacher. We are welcomed through an opening program initiated by our receiving university-University of Pendidikan Indonesia. We were able to meet our co- delegates from the other Universities and Colleges- Maria Andrea Gaspar and Sophia Marie Alvero Pascual of University of Santo Tomas, Suwaphon Chirat and Kittikarn Wongrisung from Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University and Darius Azures from Mindoro State College of Agruculture and Technology.

Furthermore, we also had the chance to meet our mentor for the whole duration of the program. My mentor’s name is Ms. Ira Rengganis, M.Sn. She is a kind person; she told me brief information about my assigned school – SD Pelita Nusantara such as how far it is from the dormitory of UPI and also in terms of the performance of the learners.

Aside from these, our beloved Education Program dean Dr. Jo-Ann Y. Solomon expresses thank you for the warm welcome and for the great opportunity that they provided to the delegates. We are so blessed to be part of this program. I will surely treasure this experience forever.

Closing Program

Thinking the fact that I will be gone for a month from the place that I considered home is not easy. You cannot prevent the feeling of uneasiness even though on the other side of yourself is telling you that it would be a great opportunity to experience staying in the other country for about a month.

My internship come to an end. One month is over. But there is one thing that will remain in my heart and in my mind. It is how I build myself together with the family I had in Indonesia.

I am afraid to fail the people who trust in me. It was a tough experience to make yet memorable to treasure. It requires a lot of patience, positive attitude, faith and guts. But, yes I did it.
